Hi All,

I have a query regarding a part of the history of the AK47 and family. It relates to the original designs (and implementation?) for the ballistics, in that Mikhail had envisaged a tumbling bullet, spinning head over heals if you like, rather than the conventional rifled set up. I had heard many years ago (consequently I mau not be remembering correctly!) in a documentary interviewing Mikhail that he wanted to develop this as the damgage it would cause would outweigh the range and other negative effects. My memory is poor and I do not have access to that documentary so I guess I am asking if this rings true with anyone else out there? I am finding it difficult to accept that this is even possible in any practical sense, so even if the 'tumbling' bullet is not applicable in the AK case, are there any other examples?

Many thanks,

MrBossGuy (YouCanCallMeSir!)
